Dog Shows have been a popular pastime in the UK since the mid 19th Century and in 1891 Charles Cruft founded the 'Crufts' show, which is now world-famous for being the biggest dog show in the world. We have seen many Billericay Dog Training Centre pupils qualify for Crufts over the years and our newcomers often ask what the secret of their success is.
Our Ring Craft instructor, Claire, says, "There are a lot of people out there that have dogs and would love to enter the world of showing but don’t know where to start, so I started the Ring Craft class which has gone from strength to strength. Our Ring Craft class isn’t like the traditional classes. We hold them outside in all weathers (the majority of dog shows are outside, so it makes sense to practise outside). Each class is 45 minutes long and we practise as if it was a real show, standing with our dogs and taking it in turns to present and run them in the traditional way. We ensure that everybody gets involved, critiquing how each dog moves and providing individual help for the things they need to work on, so that we all learn to show our dogs off in the best possible way. Most of all, we have fun! Because, whether you want to show or not, our classes are a great way to bond with your best pal, resulting in a calmer dog and one that is happy to be touched all over, thereby making grooming sessions and vet checks so much easier. |
If you would like to come along and join our happy group then please do get in touch."
